First Twin Plus Gathering

 

How Twin Plus Got Started

Twin Plus was initially just a blog, shared and managed by the three of us. After a name discussion with Li Teng and Phyisomom, we finally name our blog Twin Plus, so that our sharing benefits not only family with twin but also multiple babies. Hence, Twin Plus was officially launched on blogspot on the 28 August 2008.

On the 29th June 2009, almost a year after set set up our blog, we decided to move to Facebook so that more families with multiple can join us and share more easily with each other.

From only the three of us 2 years ago, today, community in Twin Plus Group on Facebook has expanded to 94 families. Isn't it fun for us to be able to meet up with other families, with multiple too?

Today, for the very first time, 26 families from Twin Plus group finally gather for a meet up at Kids Zone, Hartamas Shopping Mall. Families who attended were: Nicole Lam, Yen Lin, Mindy Ong, Sarah Wong, Callyn Tan, Chee San, Karen Wee,Mee Yee, Suzanne Looi, Kelly Kok, Irene Lien, Vivian, Li Teng, Jing,Chin Nee, Sharon Ng, Michelle Loo, Belle, Cherry Chee, Jazemine Lim,Huey Huey, Yvonne Lim, Sylvia Hoo, Angela Tan, Arianne and Angela Mariana Fuddin. Besides media like magazines Mombaby, Feminine & Astro U Report were also invited today for reporting and shooting.

A big thank you to Nicole, Mindy, Li Teng, Kelly and many many more for putting so much effort, making our 1st Gathering today, a BIG SUCCESS!

Can you imagine how the whole playzone was like with so many double faces running all about everywhere? Not sure about the pro-photographers there, I felt very dizzy while trying to capture some mirror-effect pictures. It was almost impossible as most twins were running and playing separated everywhere. Sorry ya...Irene, these are some of the best I can come up with.

Finally I managed to catch Mee Yee's 2 very obedient daughters who were sitting opposite me. Girls are girls, so sweet and nice...

And then Mindy's two very leng chai boys, who were sitting just next to us. How can I resist not pointing my camera at them?

And then I caught 2 very pretty twin girls, who were sitting next to my right. Arrghhh....I always think that twin girls are so much cuter than twin boys. Ok, take back my word, I shall not give my girls away, if I am ever blessed again with a pair of twin girls!

My kids had so much fun today and they were extremely tired (my girl still not waking up from her deep, deep nap, from 5pm-9.45pm!)

I hope that there will be a gathering every year from now on, for Twin Plus. If you have missed this year, do make sure you remember to mark your calendar early and join us next year, ok!

My twins & their Australian Friend DX

Tday is 4th July.
The weather is so friendly and cool.

My 11 yrs old twins' friend DX is back frm Melbourne for his school break.

Took them to Clearwater Sanctuary BG for swimming, some fellowship & cthing up.

Yes both my twins are in the same class in the same school and share the same good friend, too. They have not met their classmates DX for past 6 months after DX migrated to Australia.

Here are the pics of the boys having a great time together again.

My twin boys can cook!

Today is a gloomy Sunday. So cool to stay at home.

I decided to cook breakfast at home and look who are helping me:



My twin boys helping me make Bombay Toast.

Actually this is not the first time for these two 10year olds. They have actually helped me fry eggs, make spaghetti , etc. before this.


Emm, do you have a story to share about your twins that make you happy & proud to be a mother of twins? Do share with us here.

Are your twins or multiples having the same character, personality and intelligence?

They may look alike but are their characters the same? are they equally introvert or extrovert? Do they have the same talents?

If they are schooling, do you put them in the same class or different?

Physiomom was advised by her twins's school principle once (before he retired) that twins should be placed in differnt classes to encourage their individual development. However, she decided not to separate them and pleaded that both her twin boys be put in the same class for easy time management of time table and after school activities schedules. Moreover, one twin is more a leader while the other is more of a follower. If they are separated, they may have separation anxiety and also stressful particulary for the twin who is more dependent on the other twin.

Heriditary or Fertility?

someone is having twins or multiples....Congratulations!

Nowadays conceiving twins and multiples like triplets, quadriplets are so common among married couples. Some are due to strong or not so strong family genes and some are results of fertilty programme that they undergone.

As for physiomom, both her family on her side and husband's side has twins genes. Her maternal granny delivered twin girls while her hubby's grand aunties are twins. Most people say that twins tend to follow more of maternal side.


This ultrasound showing physiomom's pregnancy gestation at 8 weeks as a singletone before she was diagnosed as carrying twins from a 4 month gestation ultrasound later on.

Some couples have higher chances of conceiving twins or multiples due to fertility treatment.

Wear the baby

While waiting for my 2nd hand twin stroller to arrive, I was thinking of the best way to bring the babies out (I really long to go shopping!). Putting little babies in the strollers might be too trouble as they might:

• cry as it feels insecure sitting/ sleeping while being pushed around
• I might need to look for nursing room when I wanna nurse them

Before this, I wasn't interested in using any sling. Not until I came across this very beautiful IKEA Barnsling ring sling by Baby Wombie!

Since my babies love to cry so much, the best solution of course is to wear the babies close to my heart. With a sling:

• I can breastfeeding discreetly in a sling
  
• I easily walk everywhere with my hands free
  
• my baby can feel my heartbeat and warm of mummy
  
• I get to cuddle and smell my sweet smelling baby up to 3 YEARS!
• I do not have to invest a twin stroller (WHICH IS SO EXPENSIVE) at all
  

I even sling one twin (while my maid sling another) in the car since the babies refuse to sit in the car seat!
